What Are Responders in No More Room in Hell 2?

Responders are the persistent characters deployed into No More Room in Hell 2 missions. They are emergency personnel operating in the outbreak, and each one carries individual progression and the risk of permanent death.

How Do You Choose a Character or Responder?

Choose from the available Responders before a deployment and customize the character with the options you have unlocked. Armageddon 1.0 expanded character customization, while weekly Assignments and Merits provide a clearer route to cosmetic rewards.

Do Characters Have Different Stats or Abilities?

Responders develop through perks, gear, and loadout choices rather than a fixed class roster described by the official store page. Each extraction can progress a Responder’s skills and unlock unique perks for future deployments.

Do not assume a cosmetic appearance carries a hidden combat bonus unless the current in-game description says so.

How Does Responder Progression Work?

Successful missions improve future starting options. Account level represents access to gear and skills, while individual Responders carry their own development.

For 1.0, Nightmare Tokens became per-Responder rather than account-bound. The developer also removed character-level requirements from loadout items, letting higher-account-level players invest gear in a fresh recruit.

What Happens to a Character When You Die?

Death is permanent for the Responder. Their individual progress and per-Responder legacy resources die with them. The 1.0 Rescue Beacon is a high-end loadout-only item that can protect a Responder from one death when earned and equipped, but it does not remove the general permadeath rule.

Can You Change a Responder’s Loadout?

Yes. Loadouts are built from the gear available to the account and the resources you choose to invest. The 1.0 economy changes removed character-level requirements from loadout items, giving players more freedom to equip a new Responder.

Are More Characters Coming in Future Updates?

The developer has committed to post-launch iteration but has not published a fixed character roadmap in the sources used for this page. Treat specific future Responder claims as unconfirmed until they appear in an official update.
